Poem: I can’t move on

I close the door and turn off the lights.
Block every sound out of my mind,

close my eyes tight.
Recede to the depths of my thoughts,

deeper than I’ve ever gone.
Then I see your face, and realize that I can’t move on.
Countless times this man has tried to permanently forget

how your radiant smile has fostered endearing light
to his heart after every sunset.
In the dark I shiver, because the lonely night is so cold.
Every pore in my body longing for a living blanket to hold.
Haunted by the memories we share,

more delighted than afraid.
Each tender embrace being a burgundy rose

whose petals never fade.
Although I have so much to live for,

and so many things to do.
I would trade them all
for the chance t
o be loved solely by you.
I awake, eyes grudgingly greeting the dawn;
Look at the closest mirror, see your face,
and realize that I can’t move on.

RL Tales: Dating Drama during the last week of September

How does one meet lady C at a party on Saturday but does not remember meeting her months earlier. How does one date lady B the next day and not know that she is the best friend of Lady C. How does one ask lady C out on the Thursday and not know that she and lady B are best friends. How does one date lady A during the week knowing that Lady A is a client of lady B even if lady B is aware of the situation. How shocked is one to realize that months earlier one took a picture of all three ladies together.

DRAMA!!! - Must choose one or be left with none :-(

Poem: Cross the line

I had to cross the line of irreconcilable differences
even though I knew that it would hurt you.
I had to grab the vine of opportunity

to partake of a growing love that maybe true.
I know you won’t forgive me,

I know that our friendship may end.
But I had to risk our relationship for a woman,

a woman who may be godsend,
You will never look at me the same;

your trust in me is severely broken;
But I hated keeping you in the dark,

so I unlocked the secret and forced my mouth open.
I can’t allow our opportunity for happiness to pass me by

because of your pride.
I had to tell you that I had strong feelings for her

because silence’s deception was killing me inside.
Years ago she was your precious girlfriend;

Years ago she was prepared to be your wife.
Now I want to date her

and it cuts you deep like a butcher knife.
You can't stand to see my face;

you can’t believe that I could commit this act.
I was your best friend, your confidant

and I violated a sacred brotherly pact.
I’m sorry that I hurt you my friend,

but I had to cross the line.
She makes me smile from within

and I want to make her mine.

Poem: Caramel Rose

Across the waters of pristine aquamarine
lives the Bahamian caramel rose;
Spellbinding and magnificent from her ebony opal locks
to her perfect toes.
Her eyes are the mesmerizing musical instruments
that draw admirers (like me) to her side;
To bask in her beauty like palm trees
bowing to the winds of the ever-changing tide.
Her skin is as soft as Indian silk
and her hug makes me melt
like butter in a hot frying pan.
When I see pictures of us together
I see the portrait of a lucky man.
I wish to hold this flower forever,
smell her sensual aroma in the eve of the dawn.
Stroke her brilliant petals
and be nurtured by her radiance
like milk given to a newborn.
Listen to her angelic voice,
bathe in her heart warming laugh
and feel my breath enclosed in her lovely hand.
Be mystified by the fabulous woman,
the island flora who shapes my path
like a footstep in the sand.
Sweet is the sultry kiss of this empress
and tantalizing is her tender embrace.
My captivated cheeks gladly ache from the myriad of smiles
she paints on my humble face.
Near the tongue of the sea
there is a woman of distinction,
she is the Bahamian caramel rose.
I rise like the sun when she is near
and my thoughts will follow her
as long as the Caribbean winds continue to blow.

Poem: They Prey

They prey on the least of us
like they were at a thanksgiving feast.
Some are parents in the north and west,
others are molesters in the south and east.
Like a tiger to a wounded deer they prey on the ignorant
and naive in our society.
We can protect ourselves
but who will protect the youth and future progeny of this country.
Priests like wolves in sheep clothing
strip our young boys of their virtue and their pride.
Fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts and cousins
rob their daughters, sons and kin of their virginity
and damage them permanently from the backside or inside.
Mental scars of sexual confusion and shame
plague tormented helpless minds.
A moral hypocritical community would see their turmoil,
but their religious bias makes them blind.
So these growing ticking time bombs
try to find layers of sanity and peace in these unforgivable acts.
Some explode in violent ways; some have tumultuous marriages
and are unable to get their life on normalcy’s track.
They are victims of demons
who dwell in the form of a woman or a man
whose duty is to make someone’s life a living hell.
They prey on the least of us,
condemning a child’s soul to a wretched living prison cell.
As long as they prey on the least of us,
we must inform the young of the evil
that exist during these dark times.
We must shield the innocent from these spawns of evil
and ensure that these predators are punished
severely for their crimes.

Another Co-worker's Birthday

Once again we signed cards, sang Happy Birthday and ate cake. Boy do I feel old!

Poem: Heaven’s Nectar

She is a drop of heavens nectar,
a taste of miracle wine.
She is a sight to die for
and I wish to make her mine.
Intoxicating is her laugh,
debilitating is her touch.
Sultry is her talk and soothing is her walk.
Spellbinding is her smile,
marvelous is her style.
If she is the last person I see, I will die content.
Blessed to have experienced
God’s perfect present.
No heterosexual man
can resist her sensuous charms for long.
Her words have mythical powers
like a nightingale’s song.
I used to search for destiny,
but I search no more.
She is forever like waves
predestined to reach the shore.
And I will cater like a puppy
to her every whim.
Until her bodacious cup is full
of joy overflowing its brim.
She is my jasmine fire,
she is my purifying flame.
She is a drop of heaven’s nectar
and _________ is her name.

Date: Table Tennis and Basketball - 24Sep06

Just when I thought my Sunday was going to be boring I remembered around
6PM that I had scheduled an evening tabletennis date.

Luckily for me my date was eager to play around 8PM. We had fun and it was interesting playing with an injured hand. I was surprised when my friend wanted to shoot basketball hoops in the backyard. Being an egotistical man (suffering from rust) I accepted her challenge. Afterwards we sat for hours on the rocking chair chatting (getting bitten by mosquitos) and then I dropped her home.

Toastmaster Club 7178 Quarterly Social - 23Sep06

Due to my injuries I had to decline deejaying the Toastmaster Club 7178 Quarterly Social. I suggested to the President of the club that I assist by providing karaoke during the early hours of the social. I got my businness associate to setup the equipment and attendees had a wonderful time singing. I felt fortunate to be able to sing and dance (a little) with my friends. Hopefully next year I will be able to dance up a storm :-)

Second visit to "Da Balcony" - 22Sep06

After spending time talking for hours with a friend I went to visit Da Balcony (night club) around midnight. One of the co-owners allowed me to take some pictures of the club. Da Balcony is on West Bay Street next to the Straw Market across from the British Colonial Hilton.

One Week Anniversary Dinner at Cafe Matisse of Car Crash - 22Sep06

Poem: Inferior

I gave you love,
you gave me your heart,
My ruby red love changed
to an envious emerald green,
and now we have drifted apart.
I can’t help feeling inadequate,
virtually impotent inside.
The fact that you don’t depend on me
is almost too much for my male pride.
I know that breaking up
may have been an impulsive thing to do,
But I can’t help feeling inferior to you.
You have the car, the intellect,
the job and the class.
I’m still wandering in the desert
hoping to walk in the same green grass.
How dare I; a peasant,
deem myself worthy enough to be beside a queen.
When I know that in the chariot of our relationship
you will always have the financial reigns.
So how do I take charge, how do I even compete?
What is my role in the life of a woman
who does not need a man to make her life complete?
The whispers in the dark, I can not ignore,
their words have become mine.
Woman you know and I know
that everything is not “fine.”
You have the “papers”, the growing salary,
and affluent dreams.
I am barely making ends meet
with my hard work and “get rich quick schemes.”
To me you are domineering, overpowering
and out of control.
And in my eyes this mountain of a man
is reduced to a mere ant hole.
I know that breaking up may have been
an impulsive thing to do,
But I can’t help feeling inferior to you.

Flashback 2004 - Game Night

Poem: Precious

You are a magnificent island beauty
that would put Helen of Troy to shame.
As “Martin Luther King” was more

than a man with a message,
you are more inspiring than a simple dream.
Your lips are lush and lavish

like the petals of an angel rose.
Perfectly chiseled are your cheeks and dimples,

modest and distinguished is your nose.
As the sky could not be blue

without the reflection of the sea,
a man’s life is deemed incomplete
if he is unable to win the heart of such a lady.
Tender and caring is your touch,

able to comfort a leper’s pain.
Compassion conveyed through rainbow eyes

as natural as the falling rain.
Your mind is as sharp as a warrior’s sword,

and your tongue is as soothing as white wine.
You are a queen among women,

and I am determined to make you mine.

Reviewing my options with my lawyer

I was told today that the driver who crashed into me on Friday was overtaking people from 8 blocks away before the accident. My friend's co-worker was driving behind the wreckless driver and noticed that it was the same car at the scene of the head-on auto collision. Based on this new information the driver lied about his condition and was not asleep when he rammed my car.

I got to chat about the case with my lawyer. She gave me some good advice and posed for a picture.

Tale of the broken thumb

I had to get X-rays for my swollen thumb. The reward for being in a head-on automobile collision. I also have to take muscular relief medicine for my banged up ribs, back, shoulder and neck.

The results showed that the thumb was fractured in three places like a "Y". I should get the estimates on the car by Wednesday but I've been told by the towing company that the car is a writeoff.

This piece of hard plastic is going to be my good friend for the next 3 to 6 weeks.

Car head-on collision at Go Slow Bend - 15Sep06

I was driving alone along Go Slow Bend about to proceed around the curve when I noticed a car drifting into my lane and going straight at me. I remember thinking that this could not be happening to me. As if in slow motion the cars collided, the airbags released and I sat stunned in the car for a few seconds. The driver who works at Scotiabank Rawson Square Branch said that he fell asleep at the wheel, had no airbags and had no insurance for his girlfriend's car. His girlfriend and her toddler were also asleep in the vehicle. I had a swollen left thumb/minor forearm bruises and the female had a gash in her forehead. Everyone else was physically okay. Praise God that no one was maimed or killed.

Celebrating Mom's Birthday

I had lunch with my parents and a long time family friend at a local Indian restaurant (Clay Oven). The food was spicy and delicious. My Mom loved her birthday gift, the new Beyonce CD and the card I left for her earlier this morning on the kitchen table. No one knew that hours later I was going to be involved in a terrible automobile accident.

Poem: That Way

I should wipe my finger prints off of the knife,
but I don’t care.
I look at the lifeless body that lay before me,
unable to shed a single tear.
When the police come
I don’t know what I’m going to say,
Because a father is not supposed to treat his little girl
that way.
Each time I tried to sandpaper his smell,
his touch from my body in the shower.
Every week I would dread his footsteps
outside my door in the wee hours.
Many nights I would wake up in a cold sweat
wishing that my living nightmare would go away;
But the pain of each thrust, and the memory of bloody sheets
is a video cassette stuck on instant replay.
I hate him with every bone in my body,
I detest acting like every thing is fine.
But after I saw him fondling my baby sister
I only had salvation on my mind.
No more footsteps to fear outside my door,
my life begins today.
A father is not supposed to treat his daughter
that way.

Scotia Dynasty Humorous Speech/Evaluation Competition

Someone just keeps me coming back to Toastmasters. She just doesn't take "Hell No!" for an answer when it comes to participating in the program. It was a pleasure being a first time judge for the Scotia Dynasty Humorous Speech/Evaluation Competition and the speeches were hilarious. Sadly, my camera's battery died (not at my hands) before I could get a picture with the prettiest lady in the room but a picture with number two was not bad. One of the members of the club used my camera because her battery was dead which explains all the heads being placed in some of the shots - amateur :-)

Clay Aiken is an amazing singer. I pre-ordered his new album due in October a month ago because the man can truly sing. He along with Kelly Clarkson and Fantasia will have great futures due to their timeless voices. I don't download great singers like Clay or Christina Aguilera, that would be a crime.

Poem: Guide Him

Take this son dear father
and guide him to your home.
Until he dwells in the land of spirits
where there is no flesh and bone.
Make him more than a mere pursuer
of manmade goals.
Enlighten him with holy living testimony
to witness and save souls.
Let him know that you love him,
let him tell others how much you care.
Let him be a dazzling beacon to the lost ones
so that they may also find you near.

Don’t leave him moving from project to project
but never satisfied.
Show him through your tested words why you died
so that in him your love may reside.
Carry all his hefty burdens

and grant his mind & body peace.
Allow him to spread your victorious gospel
to all who will hear until his heartbeats cease.
Carry him upon a lofty cloud
to sit close to your spectacular throne.
Take this son dear father
and guide him to your home.

Flashback 2006 - YGP 1st Anniversary Dinner

Poem: The Fresh Rose

I cherish our precious time together weekly;
you are the fresh rose in my day,
My cheeks blush bursting with anticipation

from the warm words you say.
Every spare second is a blessing,

every valuable minute is heaven sent.
If wanting to be with you is a crime

then my heart has a lot of sin to repent.
I know you have obligations, dependents
and a demanding career.
But like a wandering toddler that seeks its mother,

I wish for you to be near.
My feelings for you are blooming daily

with bright petals of affection.

In adoration for you my attractive butterfly,
yearning for your attention.

When I see you at work or at dinner
I am stunned by your beauty.
You are a hero to this man

and I gladly offer you the key to my city.
I enjoy your wit, marvel at our common interests

and treasure your ideals.
Only a gentleman
who has had a gorgeous angel’s company
knows how I feel.
I am honoured to be a sock for the day

if you are the accompanying shoe.
You are the fresh rose in my day

and all I want to do is spend a few hours with you.

Poem: The One

Maybe it was the star-like twinkle
in your eyes,
Or the way your moonlight smile
paints the midnight sky.
That’s the day that I knew
you were “The One”,
That I was the earth that revolved around you,
the sun.
Such a beautiful shooting star
can only be experienced at a glance.
When I saw you, my comet, passing me by
I had to take a chance.
In a moment I fell for you like a meteor
from on high.
Your brief words shot me into orbit
and made me believe that I could fly.
That’s the day I realised that the earth
revolved around you, the sun.
That’s the day that I knew in my heart
that you were “The One”.

I love this song from Beyonce's new album released this week.

Music Video: Save Room by John Legend

Poem: With a Circle

I was in love with a “circle”, a woman of extremes;
Captivated by a silver cloud

that darkened like a disturbing dream.
I thought that she was solid iron
but she was rusty and hollow inside.
Her sea of emotions was unpredictable to my shore,
a hapless victim of her ever-changing tide.
A “circle” has no middle; she can only be happy or sad.
To the unsuspecting normal “square”
her irrational thoughts appear to be quite mad.
Like the weather she would shower me with love one day
and then scorch me with dessert winds.
Constantly rehashing old relationship fires
that were resolved
and blaming me for our past sins.
I was in love with a circle, a woman of extremes.
I climbed an emotionally volatile mountain
and I only have myself to blame.
I tried to leave her many horizons earlier
but she fondly changed my mind;
Seasoning me with romps of intimacy

and hallmark e-mail cards,
while coaxing my heart with words of commitment

until it was blind.
I was a fool to stay due to her past indiscretions

and incomplete stories,
but complacency encouraged me to stay.
Until she sought therapy and told me on two separate occasions
that our love had seen its final day.
I was in love with a circle, a woman of extremes.
Her bouts of depression scarred my faith in the female gender
and I will never be the same.

Poem: One Drop

Take me as I am or don’t take me at all.
I’m not a doctor you infrequently visit

when loneliness’ sickness calls.
If you were an alcoholic,

I would be the few times you tried to stay sober.
Don’t you know that it only takes one drop

for the cup to run over?
I can sleep in your home; lay next to you on your bed.
But when he comes by unexpectedly I have to hide in the tub

underneath the showerhead.
I want more from you than equity in a time-share.
I want the condo and all of the amenities available to me

for the entire year.
I need more than a thrill and a romp of elation.
I’m tired of sneaking around during lunch breaks

and annual vacations.

If his name, his status, his money, means so much to you.
Then I am prepared to limit the players in this love triangle to two.
The neck of this relationship is exposed,

cast aside is the shawl.
Woman, take me and only me as I am

or don’t take me at all.
This illicit affair has lost its fragrance,

shriveled is the clover.
My dear, what use is the vessel

if it only takes one drop to make the cup run over?

Flashback 2004 - Party at Nygard Cay

Poem: The Voice

A co-worker asked me this afternoon to write a poem about a man who was like a father to her. She will say the words at his funeral service on Sunday 03Sep06. She told me about their relationship and I wrote the poem below a few minutes later.

I will miss the voice
that told me mesmerizing stories
when I was young girl.
I still miss the tales
that transported my imagination
to a magical world.
I will miss my polite father figure
who also became my kindred friend.
From the age of seven he was a treasure
that can only be described as Godsend.
His family was blessed to have him
and I was honored to be considered
an adopted member.
The dinners, the boat trips and the laughs
are precious memories that I will always remember.
I will miss the kind sir who was a wealth of wisdom;
I will miss this gentle man.
I will miss the voice that told me stories
because I am one of his greatest fans.

Poem: Tempered Gold

I hope for a truthful woman of substance,
a lover with a heart of tempered gold.
A solar panel to receive my love,
but also a sun to illuminate and nurture my world.
I seek earned respect and trust,
I seek a person who treasures sincerity,
creativity and individuality.
I wish for a compassionate woman
who can appreciate a candid gentleman like me.
Long has this vessel poured dutiful affection
without being refilled with waters of reciprocation.
Long has this raging torch of romance been doused
by selfishness, materialism and emotional frustration.
One day the rivers of loneliness will subside
and she will set this captive heart free.

Part my Red Sea like Moses in the Bible
and reveal a living miracle to complete me.
Fulfill my spiritual destiny

to walk life’s road by her side.
Always together exchanging affection
like the shore embracing the surging tide.
Although I am not near to perfection
like this “Eve” from the Creator’s mould.
I pray for her, an honest woman of substance,
a lover with a heart of tempered gold.

Another Co-worker's Birthday

Poem: Passionately

I prayed passionately for her
but God gave me you.
Now that I know you,

no other love will ever do.
You are the gleaming star

in the night
that brings an illuminating twinkle to my eyes.
You make me soar majestically like a golden condor

hovering in the velvet blue sky.
I float aimlessly like an ebony cloud

full of joy for your affection.
My waves of admiration flow to your shore;

my sole desire is to cover your beach
with utter elation.
She was what I wanted,

a delicious seasonal fruit that had no seed.
You are the fertile tree

that bears all the qualities in a woman
that I will ever need.
She was my world, and when she left me

I felt like a song without a verse.
Until I experienced your angelic face

and you became the center of my universe.
I’m the evening tide attracted to you,

the mystical moon that I gladly pursue.
I prayed passionately for her,

but thank God for giving me you.

Poem: Lift Her High

She loves to board your passage
as long as you lift her high,
Soaring past the greatest peaks
where eagles dare not fly.
With your wandering hands
direct her towards your midsection.
As you slowly rise,
brandish your choice of protection.
Lift her with your strong arms
and buckle her tight.
Serve her with your “wet” juices
and “drive her nuts” through the night.
Carry her towards the horizon
until she reaches a blissful place.
Take her there and keep her tethered
with a steady quickening pace.
Loudly roar your engine,
ticket her with your brand.
Then caress her with your soft hum,
and guide her gently to land.
As she leaves content,
politely bid her goodbye,
Knowing in your heart that she will be back again,
as long as you lift her high.

Poem: Constant Fear

Every night I look at you
with a constant fear;
Confronted by the realization that in the morning,
like the dew, you will disappear.
The thought of being alone
is more than my brittle heart can take.
Like a Ming vase knocked from its pedestal
it is destined to break.
What will I do without my fiancé,
where will I go without you?
Every decision I have made in the past year
has been for two.
How can I face the cruel night
without you by my side.
Face the sunlight and greet the future
without my expectant bride.
Don’t leave me woman,
try to stay with me an extra day.
Oh God, heavenly father,
please don’t take my lifeline away.
Darling, I don't want to let you go;
please look at me, and fight.
Look beyond our constant fear
and stay another night.

Beyonce - "Ring The Alarm" live at MTV Video Music Awards

This was a hot performance. The tribute to Janet Jackson with the extended dance routine could have been left out. Very entertaining like the video.
