Poem: Caramel Rose

Across the waters of pristine aquamarine
lives the Bahamian caramel rose;
Spellbinding and magnificent from her ebony opal locks
to her perfect toes.
Her eyes are the mesmerizing musical instruments
that draw admirers (like me) to her side;
To bask in her beauty like palm trees
bowing to the winds of the ever-changing tide.
Her skin is as soft as Indian silk
and her hug makes me melt
like butter in a hot frying pan.
When I see pictures of us together
I see the portrait of a lucky man.
I wish to hold this flower forever,
smell her sensual aroma in the eve of the dawn.
Stroke her brilliant petals
and be nurtured by her radiance
like milk given to a newborn.
Listen to her angelic voice,
bathe in her heart warming laugh
and feel my breath enclosed in her lovely hand.
Be mystified by the fabulous woman,
the island flora who shapes my path
like a footstep in the sand.
Sweet is the sultry kiss of this empress
and tantalizing is her tender embrace.
My captivated cheeks gladly ache from the myriad of smiles
she paints on my humble face.
Near the tongue of the sea
there is a woman of distinction,
she is the Bahamian caramel rose.
I rise like the sun when she is near
and my thoughts will follow her
as long as the Caribbean winds continue to blow.
