Poem: She won’t lock the door

I’m more than what she needs in a man;
I fill her earth from mantle to core.
But because she was in love with him

for many years, she won’t lock the door.
He’s a former lover, he’s her best friend.
He wants her back

and he wants our relationship to end.
She has the power,

she’s in control of what he can and cannot do.
Yet she refuses to put her foot down

regardless of the anguish she’s going through.
She won’t lock the door, she keeps letting him in.
He’s disrespecting our relationship

and my patience is growing thin.

Her heart has moved on with me
but her mind is still unsure.
She keeps telling him that I’m just a friend

but they both know that I’m much more.

Sometimes when she looks at me

with love and affection
there is a flash of sadness in her eyes.
She knows that accepting the reality

of being with me
means that her dream of them must die.
I’m more than what she needs in a man;
I fill her earth from mantle to core.

He disrepects her, his jealousy scares her;
But she won't lock the door.
