Poem: Fool’s Gold

She is a spellbinding wonder
of contentment to behold.
Compared to this genuine artifact
all other women are “fool’s gold”.
Intelligence and beauty are to __________
as ash and fire.
Both cause the blood to burn,
but she is the only one I desire.
I am smitten by her gorgeous face;
enslaved by her celestial smile;
Overcome with joy when she appears
like a groom
watching his bride
glide down the aisle.
Even though I wish to be much (much) more,
I feel fortunate to be her friend.
Like a stuntman for his craft,
I’ve fallen for her many times
and I’ll happily do it again.
She is not married yet,
so the future remains a story untold.
Compared to _________
all other women are “fool’s gold”.
