Poem: The Kite

Like darkness and despair
consuming the light;
Gone, is the wind
that once held up the kite.
I’ve been bitten by the dog of rejection,
scarred by fangs that pierced deep.
Tears flow like a fountain from this man,
a man who forgot how to weep.
Like the crystal dew,
you are disappearing before my eyes,
Colors fading and dissipating
like the cascading sunrise.
Drifting further and further away
like the flailing tide
Overwhelming me with a sense of loss
like the father of the bride.
This waterfall has lost its power,
its reason to overflow.
Essence melting
and evaporating in the spring
like the winter snow.
Warm sunrays swiftly departing
in fear of the ominous night
Gone, is the wind
that once held up the kite.
