Music Video: MC Hammer feat. James Brown - Here Comes The Hammer

In honor of the late James Brown who was not getting royalties for rappers/singers sampling his music, style and dance moves;
MC Hammer (The Godson of Soul) blessed his idol with this video remix. May the Godfather of Soul rest in peace and may his musical legacy last 100 generations.

Poem: My Father's Son - Nassau, Bahamas

When all of my accomplishments
are said and done,
I want to be remembered
as my Father’s son.
In times of crisis he has been my best friend,
in confusion’s darkness he’s been my guiding light.
Conveying wisdom, and responsibility to a teenager
who once believed that youth could overcome any plight.
Many times I strayed from the path of righteousness,
but as a role model his actions showed me the way.
It’s because of him, that I am willing to seek
an abiding relationship with Jesus today.
I was spoilt with his love,
admonished by his belt.
Molded into a man by his friendship
and educated with his wealth.
This son of God is truly blessed
to have been placed in his care.
Any gifts my mother lacked
he was always willing to share.
Someday I hope to be a dedicated husband, like him,
and raise a family.
Nurture and support a daughter or son
who will be my living tribute to society.
Look into my child’s face,
see my reflection smiling back at me.
Marvel in delight
every time I hear him or her say, “Daddy”.
Many fathers give their money, or their name;
but he gave me the best part.
My Dad gave me his time, his understanding,
and most importantly his heart.

Birthday Party at Pure Nightlife Night Club - 15Dec06 - Nassau, Bahamas

Poem: Wrap me

Wrap me up in your arms,
if only for tonight.
Tie my feelings in bows of glee
and pull my body tight.
Read the label of my eyes
and entertain your mind.
Sense this precious treasure within,
and marvel at the riches that you will find.
This Yuletide season I promise
to present myself to you anew.
I am even willing to let you take a peek
before Xmas if you want me to.
Gently open me up,
moving slowly from bottom to top.
Don’t hold a single touch back,
don’t allow your soothing hands to stop.
Passionately embrace this “one” who loves you,
and rapture me with care.
Partake wholly of my gift of love
which is yours to unwrap and enjoy
at this special time of year.

Poem: In the palm of your hand

Woman, you have me beating
in the palm of your hand.
A happy puppet
eager to follow your every command.
A symphonic drum
that never misses an attentive beat;
To fill your thoughts
with it’s pulsating rhythm,
and make our lives complete.
Content to be yours,
and yours alone until the end of time.
Determined to serve a lifetime sentence,
“loving you” is the crime.
Ticking like a bomb,
a bomb that never wants to blow;
Destined to explode
like a pin-less grenade,
if you were to let me go.
Darling, my only desire
is to entertain you for all eternity
with my one man band.
Forever yours,
beating in the palm of your hand.

Music Video: Mary J. Blige - We Ride

Poem: Fearing the worst

Like a man cast upon a deserted island
and fearing the worst.
Surrounded by salt water, desert winds
and dying from thirst.
Having only the solitary branch
of a coconut tree
to shelter me from the merciless sun.
Longing for water, for a woman, for you,
my precious one.
This same man
cracks the last coconut on the tree
to ease his misery.
Savoring each sweet wet drop,
each precious withering opportunity.
Knowing in the depth of his soul
that this moment won’t last.
Soon he will be thirsty again,
his only comfort being
memories of the past.
Without your sustenance woman
his loins feel a burning pain.
His hope dwindling like an old man’s vision,
as he walks this sandy plain.
Coaxing a dry throat compounded by a heart
that is about to burst.
Facing the rest of his brief life without you
and fearing the worst.

Poem: The Junk in Junkanoo - Nassau, Bahamas

Do as I say but not as I do,
but who told you that you could
put the junk in Junkanoo.
I was fine when our ancestors moved it
to Bay and Shirley Street.
I was even willing to pay an added fee
to sit on the wooden seats.
But when you single-handedly
moved my “pride”
to Cable Beach without conferring with me
I got a little upset;
And when you spent our money
on all them metal bleachers
I wanted your hide for placing us in debt!
You told me that

you was going to triple the cost in sales;
But even the man from
the University of Farm Road
knew that that was going to fail.
You computerized the ticketing process
but you messed up the procedures

by slashing the price.
Empty gray metal structures
on national television
are a waste of taxpayers’ money,

even if they look nice.
If you had only gone thru
the proper channels
and sought joint authorization;
then you wouldn’t have stepped in this mess
and would have avoided causing this country
utter frustration.
True wisdom knows that small steps

and mini-sacrifices
must be taken to reach any goal,
But if a man lacks the patience

to listen to experience and to reason
then he jeopardizes the sanctity of his soul.
Your intentions were good,
but your gross commercialization of our culture
will not do.
It is up to the people (and only the people)
to decide how much junk to put in Junkanoo.

Poem: Appreciates me

I deserve more than a pretty face
and a sexy body;
I need a passionate fiery queen
who appreciates me.
Eve’s most beautiful child from outside and within;
the "One" whose lips cause the stars in my sky to spin.
A lady whose heartwarming actions
confirm her talk with countless acts of devotion.
A lover whose intimate gestures

are not knee jerk reactions
to arguments that fade the next day like body lotion.
Someone who will send me romantic cards
and reward me with kisses weekly

like a grand prix winner.
Someone who will send me fragrant flowers
every once in a while
and will take me occasionally

to a fancy lunch or dinner.
I deserve a woman who will massage my back
as well as my mind with words of affection.
I need a heart of tempered gold
that showers me with adoration

born of unselfish reciprocation.
A beautiful melody

that stimulates my thoughts and midsection
with mental and whimsical stimulation.
Who will sacrifice her me-time

and best friend conversations
to give me some desperately needed attention.
An angel who offers to assists me daily
in attaining my tasks and reaching my goals.
A converted witness of the Almighty
to provide biblical food to nurture my ravenous soul.
I will gladly do all these things for her times seven,
but she must convey the same love

in smaller doses that I can touch and see.
I will not settle for lukewarm water

to quench my thirst,
I need a passionate fiery queen
who appreciates me.

Poem: A reflection of you

Mom and Dad, I’m deeply honored
to be a reflection of you.
Your character, your examples are my moral glue.
Lord knows what a menace to society I would be
if I didn’t have you to look up to, to guide me.
Your voices of wisdom in my head will never die.
They encourage me; challenge me,
when I lack the desire or conviction to try.
My accomplishments and my manners
are the harvests from your relentless toil
in parenting’s vineyard.
You padded my deck with markers
in order to increase my chances
of choosing the trump card.
Dad you are my friend, my combatant,
who always gave me your time.
Because of your dedication,

self-indulgence is my only crime.
Mom you fed me with love from the nest

and forced me to fly.
Because of your inspiration and patience;
no goal or destination is ever too high.
Together, your sacrifice, trust,

commitment and honesty
are the oils on the canvas

that breathe life into my scheme.
The images you painted were not always rosy pictures
but life is not a perfect frame.
This mirror image,

this reflection wishes to say thank you
for all of the things you have done,
and continue to do.
Mom and Dad, I am truly honored and blessed
to be a reflection of you.

Poem: Gift of joy

My friend,
you may not believe
that you have done something grand;
But you have given
the remarkable gift of joy
to this man.
It’s the little things you do
that mean the world to me;
Actions that bring light to my heart,
filling that which was empty.
It just warms my soul to realize
that I was on your mind.
If only for a split-second,
vision was granted to the blind.
It’s like taking time from your afternoon
to notice a blade of grass
rustling in the wind.
Or watching a common ceiling fan
and marveling at the mechanics
which make it spin.
Your phone call to me, in reality
may have meant nothing at all,
But I felt like I won a million dollars
after receiving your call.
It’s because the glorious sun
took its precious time
to shine on me alone.
The splendid queen I willingly serve
allowed me to sit for a brief second
on her throne.
It is amazing to know that the one I adore
actually knows that I exist.
And that for a brief spell
I was number one on her “To Do List.”
My Angel, by what you did and did not say,
you have truly made my day.
Not even the devil or his minions
can take this gift of joy away.
