When all of my accomplishments
are said and done,
I want to be remembered
as my Father’s son.
In times of crisis he has been my best friend,
in confusion’s darkness he’s been my guiding light.
Conveying wisdom, and responsibility to a teenager
who once believed that youth could overcome any plight.
Many times I strayed from the path of righteousness,
but as a role model his actions showed me the way.
It’s because of him, that I am willing to seek
an abiding relationship with Jesus today.
I was spoilt with his love,
admonished by his belt.
Molded into a man by his friendship
and educated with his wealth.
This son of God is truly blessed
to have been placed in his care.
Any gifts my mother lacked
he was always willing to share.
Someday I hope to be a dedicated husband, like him,
and raise a family.
Nurture and support a daughter or son
who will be my living tribute to society.
Look into my child’s face,
see my reflection smiling back at me.
Marvel in delight
every time I hear him or her say, “Daddy”.
Many fathers give their money, or their name;
but he gave me the best part.
My Dad gave me his time, his understanding,
and most importantly his heart.
