Poem: False expectations
those are what you give to me.
Constant heartache, frustration,
pain and misery.
The inability to make promises,
promises that you won’t be able to keep.
Leaving a broken heart
belonging to a man that silently weeps.
Yet through all the sleepless nights
and emotional strain,
I truly believe that you are worth
all the hardship and pain.
Woman, I love you more
and more each day.
My life would be an endless void
if you were to go away.
You are the centre of my world,
my aspirations revolve around you.
Lady you are worth all of the anguish and more
that our relationship has put us through.
One hour with you is worth all of the months
of wandering alone
Even if it is just the sweet sound of your voice
on the telephone.
False expectations and shattered dreams,
those are what you give to me,
But for the love of you
I will readily risk future agony.
