Celebrating Indira's Birthday Bash
A friend had her Birthday Party with family and friends. She had a rake n'scrape band earlier that afternoon but I missed them. The party had great food and terrific Bahamian music.
YGP Congratulations Lunch
A group of us in the Young Gifted Professionals (YGP) celebrated the achievements of the president of the organization. The food was amazing and it was a good time to chat, talk politics and laugh with friends.
Clubbing at Da Out Island Club 29Jul06 - Nassau, Bahamas
I went dancing with a few friends to celebrate a young lady's birthday. We danced to Bahamian music for hours and had a great time at Da Out Island Club in the Nassau Beach Hotel.
Jamming with Boyz II Men in Concert in The Bahamas
I got a chance to attend the Boyz II Men concert at the Crystal Palace Resort, Nassau, Bahamas. The group sang a lot of their old songs and had the crowd singing along. My parents had attended the night before (Friday) and had experienced sound technical difficulties which were resolved on Saturday. I enjoyed myself and sang so much during the concert that I was getting hoarse. My favorite songs were "Please don't go away with me", "Water run dry", "Mama" and "Motown Philly". One of the R&B group members also celebrated his birthday on stage. I was supposed to attend the concert with a group of friends celebrating Antonia's birthday but I chose to sit up in the balcony once I found out that their seats were downstairs in the back of the room. I called them on my cellular phone to make sure that they could see me in my front row seat surveying the crowd. I met my friends after the concert to go dancing.

Boxing in The Bahamas - Very Entertaining
My first boxing experience at the Radisson Cable Beach Resort on 28Jul06. The boxers displayed their skills and no one was seriously injured. The main events had local boxers fight against competitors from Barbados. I particularly enjoyed the under card events due to the quick TKOs and jokey crowd comments.
Junkanoo in July at Prince George Wharf - 28Jul06 - Bahamas
Enjoying the food, festivities and music of the Bahamas after a hard days work. Kicking it like a tourist fresh off the cruise ship.
Later we went by Cafe Johnny Canoe and enjoyed the Junkanoo band.

Poem: The walls are closing in
A girlfriend began giving me large framed photos of herself to adorn my room. I placed them in drawers and was compelled to restore them to a conspicuous location by my Mother. A few female friends also had me place my pictures with female friends in drawers. This poem was an exaggeration of how I felt -
The walls are closing in;
the ceilings are starting to spin.
She is getting more comfortable
and I am slowly suffocating.
She's cooking, she's cleaning,
and she's leaving her stuff in each room.
She's replacing or hiding my things bit by bit;
I don't even recognize the broom!
I am slowly losing a part of me to this "W", "E".
She's so happy doing things together and I feel so guilty.
I thought we were taking it slow, having a ball.
Not speeding down the highway,
planting pictures of two on each table, each wall.
I can't seem to find my own space
in my own place.
I can't sleep right;
I've got pimples popping all over my face.
Foreign female items now abound in my drawer
where my underwear resides.
The day I heard, "We are not here"
on the answering machine a part of me died!
The walls are closing in;
I'm collapsing from each congenial blow.
Do I allow this relationship to grow,
or do I tell her that she has to go.

Poem: Your Direction
![](http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2226/3052/200/100_1232.jpg)
You don’t need to make me jealous to get my attention.
My eyes are always focused in your direction.
Woman, you are a queen,
worthy enough to be revered and adored upon a throne;
From the minute you walk into a crowded room,
its as if you and I were alone.
Lady, I am willing to testify
that a few dances with you is utter bliss.
Any man who was too foolish to seek,
or to accept your affection
was never truly worthy of your kiss.
I’m walking in a daydream when I am with you,
to me you are absolutely perfect.
Unique for your stunning beauty
and stimulating conversation,
to your sharp intellect.
Woman you don’t have to worry about any present
or future indiscretions.
My eyes are always focused in your direction.

Poem: When it happens to you
When it happens to you, it’s like a horrific dream.
It’s like watching a natural disaster newscast on TV
and the victim has your name.
No roof for shelter, no clean or rainwater to drink,
no dry clothes to wear.
Rooms flooded with wet debris
and the realization that a wall or door has disappeared.
The kitchen ceiling has a gaping hole;
your life is spiraling out of control.
You are left to pour water from a muddy cup
in order to attempt to flush the toilet bowl.
Now that all of the batteries are dead,
a candle and a match are your evening friends.
It seems that the musty wet smell of dirty clothes
and rotten grocery will never end.
Air condition on your skin and ice on your lips
seems like a distant memory.
Your emergency rations are eaten sparingly by family
and you are always hungry.
The windows are shattered;
the stench of sewage and the buzzing mosquitoes enter at will.
Everything your insurance and credit cards won’t cover
adds to a rising astronomical bill.
Where do you go when the dinner table is your bed,
when you aren’t able to bathe for another week?
Do you blame God or an act of God
for making your world seem so bleak?
When you have nothing but the clothes on your back,
do you feel any shame?
When it happens to you and the face on TV has your name.
So give graciously to someone else in peril my fellow Bahamians
because this poem could have been about you.
Thank God for sparing you and your family
and to yourself and countryman be true.

Poem: The Missing Angel
There is one angel missing in heaven,
and I know this statement to be true,
Since no one woman on earth could be this pretty,
that missing angel has to be you.
I know that you are going to deny my accusation,
and say that it is just a fantasy;
Because if the world were to know that you were an angel
then you would have to leave me.
God has truly blessed you
with beauty, style, intelligence and grace.
Indeed, I am a lucky man to be allowed to see your gorgeous face.
Your sparkling eyes, and gentle smile
are more breathtaking than the Caribbean sunset.
My dear, there is definitely one angel missing in heaven,
but that will be our little secret.

Words and Music by
Ray Gilbert and Dorival Caymmi
Every day I sent another present
Just to let her know how very much I care
I wrote a little love note with each present
But it didn't seem to get me anywhere
My poor worried heart was almost certain
That this love affair would never be
Then I sent a dozen red roses and
From that moment she belonged to me
Roses, roses, roses, I thank all the roses that bloom in the spring
Love is a wonderful thing, the rest of my life I will bring her
Roses and roses and roses of love
Roses, roses, roses, I thank you for saying what I couldn't say
Oh, what a wonderful way to tell her "I love you" each day
With roses and roses and roses of love

Poem: The face of an angel
I was visiting a favorite hangout when a young lady massaged my mind with her eyes. I dedicate this poem to her, the Libra with the red top who blew the fuse of my imagination. Of course, I got her contact information. For any straight man to allow a woman, an angel, like that to pass them by would be a grievous crime.

An angel's favorite song
Song - Love Story by Andy Williams
I found this video of a treasured song shared to me by a lovely woman. I placed it on my blogger so that she could watch it. I hope this scene from the "Muppet Show" fills her heart with laughter when she plays it.
Lyrics: Love Story by Andy Williams
Where do I begin to tell the story of how great a love can be/The sweet love story that is older than the sea/The simple truth about the love she brings to me/Where do I start/With her first hello she gave new meaning to this empty world of mine/They'll never be another love another timeShe came into my life and made the living fine/She fills my heart/She fills my heart with very special things/Angel songs and wild imaginings/She fill my soul with so much love/That any where I go I'm never lonely/With her around who could be lonely/I reach for her hand/She's always there/How long does it last/Can love be measured by the hours in a day/I have no answers now/But this much I can say/I know I'll need her until the stars all burn away/And she'll be there/
How long does it last/Can love be measured by the hours in a day/I have no answers now/But this much I can say/I know I'll need her until the stars all burn away/And she'll be there.

Poem: She e-mailed me
![](http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/2226/3052/320/100_3139.jpg)
She
e-mailed
me
After one brief encounter,
she e-mailed me
and I will never be the same.
When I saw her hotmail address
I thought I was experiencing an enjoyable daydream.
How I wish the drama of life
could always be this way.
When a woman steps electronically into your world
and makes your day.
I wrote her a reply and made her repeatedly blush.
She told me with remarks and emoticons, “Boy you are too much”.
She teased me about my website
and blindsided me with her own words of poetry.
Her pearl-like words were and pure and wholesome like her beauty
She gave me her phone number
and I called those seven digits instantly.
She asked me why I wasn’t married and about my favorite hobby.
This angel of the internet has captivated me,
my thoughts echo her name.
She e-mailed me, she spoke to me
and I will never be the same.

Dinner at the Hurricane Hole Plaza, Paradise Island
I invited LLS out to dinner after work to celebrate the purchase of her new car. We met at the Italian restaurant in the Hurricane Hole Plaza on Paradise Island, Bahamas. She loved the food and was surprised by the large menu since the four star class restaurant has been often mistaken for a pizza joint. We strolled over to the Marina Village at the Atlantis resort and listened/swayed to the Bahamian music performed by a four piece band at the Bimini Road restaurant. We sat near the palm tree weaving stall and I was amazed at how many sales the vendor had for his exotic hats and native baskets. Afterwards, we (no she) scouted a few shops and then we visited the Hurricane Hole marina and critiqued the numerous yachts that we could not afford to maintain. It was a good Wednesday to chill with a friend.

My tribute to my Father
Poem: You Gave The Best Part
I love my Dad and I when I die I hope that I will be able to pass his legacy on to my own child. I performed this poem on national television and it is the first poem in my book entitled "Deep Waters Volume One". I never want to be like one of those adults who didn't tell his/her parents how much he or she means to them (except on Fathers/Mothers Day or holidays). Life is too short to be like those people!
Life is too short to be like these people!
In life it is amazing how people who have known you for years are but mere strangers. These are the same individuals who believe that they should know everything about you and convey nothing about themselves. They hide behind the veil of information being disseminated to friends and family. The truth is that they are ashamed of their lives, their struggles and their success. They want you to build closets and place your living accomplishments next to your skeletons hidden from view. Life is too short to be like these people. I will never be ashamed of them or who I am. I believe that every trial and victory that got me to this point in life were lessons I had to learn. I do agree that people should maintain a certain level of privacy and self evaluation. But it is wrong to wish that everyone else live in the bathroom of shame and secrecy as well. What I have learned is that these people don't want me to know about their lives, they are content for me to hear the rumors about them through the grapevine. They are strangers and I will begin to treat them accordingly. Luckily for them I do care about their fragile egos but heaven help them when my well of empathy runs dry. Life is too short to be like these people!

First Roger Federer loses to Rafael Nadal again in the French Open, the Dallas Mavericks fall victim to the Miami Heat and now Brazil loses to France. In life it is amazing how the most talented team does not always win the match /Sean Munnings.
