Poem: True Love - Nassau, Bahamas

Like a bottomless pit,
true love was just a myth;
I told myself constantly
that I would never be entrapped by it.
Then you came along
and blew away my cynicism
like a tropical storm.
Tore through my defenses
and made true love the norm.
I was afraid of its power,
because like a wild stallion
it is so hard to control.
Terrified as it transformed me
from the director of my life
to an actor playing a role.
Today, I realise that true love
should be seized and cherished,
because it can quickly disappear

like the dew.
My darling, I thank God for his blessings,
for true love,
and especially for you.
