Poem: Waiting - Nassau, Bahamas

I watch you painstakingly waiting
for some acknowledgment from him that you exist.
Swallowing your pride, hoping against all odds,
whilst allowing your misery to persist.
Waiting for weeks,
weeks that eventually become months of neglect.
Adding fuel to a fire,
fostering an explosive emotional affect.
Constantly waiting and wondering,
virtually wallowing in limbo.
Too fearful, too afraid,
too haplessly in love to let him go.
Having heartfelt conversations
with his answering machine.
Pouring your heart into long letters
that are never seen.
Jumping every time the phone rings,
hoping that it is him
Having that look of expectation fade away
to reveal a future that can only be described as dim.
Staring out the window as if searching
for a gorilla in the mist.
Painstakingly waiting
for some acknowledgment from him
that you exist.

This video is FLAMIN'. It is my favorite song off of Ne-Yo's CD and made me think about one of my ex-girlfriends for 14 seconds.

Poem: Body Heat - Nassau, Bahamas

Like tantalising music,
the weight of her bodice feels so sweet.
A melodic conclusion to an intimate dance
of body heat.
Rivers of emotions overflow their banks
at the slightest movement of fingertips.
As wind-shaped hands blow and press
upon flowery hips.
Sheets of perspiration parade majestically
upon each cheek.
Sleek lips pout, tightly dressed
in salivary mystique.
Soft eyes entranced by the vision of love
they behold,
Marvel at delicate fingers
wandering over each wavering curve
and crevice of another’s world.
Tender Siamese hilltops laced
with many a cloud-like kiss.
Mirror timber and forest moist
from the eruption of excretory bliss.
Toes French curled beneath a web
of entangled feet.
Feathered arms embraced in an erotic dance
of body heat.

Poem: Lydia - Nassau, Bahamas - Dedicated to my friend from Barbados

In the distance a man beholds a living dream,
While realising in the depth’s of his soul
that he will never be the same.
As he walks towards “this vision”
he hears an ominous name;
Lydia, hidden angels of merriment proclaim.
Her touch to him is like fresh milk to a babe’s lips,
Warm, soothing and sustaining
with each flowing fingertip.
He is wrapped entirely in her aura,
sharing a connection he can not deny.
A helpless victim of her golden crust,
eager to partake of every slice of the pie.
Thirsting for her charming wit,
whilst hungering for her wondrous affection.
Sheltered by her smile,
yet delightfully frozen from toe to mid-section.
In the presence of this woman, his queen,
he rises upwards like cream.
Willing to serve his mistress in every way,
a man without shame.
Knowing in the depths of his soul
that he will never be the same.
“All in the name of Lydia”,
hidden angels of merriment proclaim.

Poem: Why should I vote for you (Written in 2002 for election) - Nassau, Bahamas

Why should I vote for you,
why should I utilize my right?
There is no vibrant opposition;
there is no one strong enough to fight.
You proud peacocks
spouting fables from your pulpits of power;
Offering words of nostalgia and not dire solutions,
wasting another precious hour.
They say it is all about us,
but you keep forgetting the “we.”
When a leader threatens to break his promise
not to run for a third term,
he’s saying that it is all about me.
Ten years is sufficient time
to groom another prophetic flower;
Another “bigoty” peacock to grant promises
from his pulpit of power.
I may not have a choice,
the internal opposition is too weak,
lacks the pomp and jubilant speech.
You may once again charm (“sweet talk”) the public
and model the robe of five years you diligently seek.
Children across the breadth of this archipelago
dream of one day doing what “you do.”
But if you can’t be a man of your word,
why should I vote for you?
