being battered by the rain,
Listening to my desperate heart
tell me no pain, no gain.
Pleading for forgiveness
from a woman I’ve scorned.
Soaked to the bone
in the darkness of the early morn.
Knowing that she can hear me,
knowing that she cares.
Knowing that she is torn,
feeling her tears.
Praying that she opens the door
and lets me in.
Hoping that our suffering
can be transformed into healing.
Ignoring my eyes,
no longer thinking with my analytic brain.
Listening to my desperate heart
tell me no pain, no gain.
