one must be aware of the powers of perception;
It is premised by one’s native costume
known to all as your reputation.
This garb of imagery and advertisement is vital
to the future business
of a tourism industry reliant nation.
The artistic prowess of the dance
and technical skills of excellence
may be overlooked by poor presentation.
To skip or fall during one’s term in office
is expected during one’s opinionated expression;
But to be inappropriately dressed for the gala
results in a negative first
and often lasting impression.
Families abroad who view their country
being disgraced internationally in the media
share our shame and frustration.
Indeed, one must expect
to be held to higher standards of ethics and fortitude
when one represents a nation.
In a global village one must shuffle and execute
with timeliness, certainty, and precision.
Truth becomes tarnished and faith is lost
when “common sense” takes a vacation.
In this waltz of politics
one must be aware of the powers of perception;
Don’t eagerly sacrifice years of hard work
for the fleeting lime lights profitable emanation.
Dress appropriately for the seductive dance
and safeguard your reputation.
