Poem: Only tears of joy

I can’t sit by
and watch such a beautiful flower
shrivel and die.
Only tears of joy
should be falling
from your ebony eyes
Forget that irresponsible man
who left you “all alone.”
My secure shoulder is waiting,
please pick up the phone.
There is sunshine after the rain,
though outside may appear grim.
Move on with your life
to a bright future,
a future without him.
Since he fails
to bring a lasting smile
to your beautiful face,
Woman, I would gladly
take his place.
Please don’t sit in bed
thinking back to yesterdays
and trying not to cry.
Lady, only tears of joy
should be falling
from your ebony eyes.
