Poem: When your levy breaks

When your levy breaks
and all of your worldly possessions are at stake.
Call on me to comfort you
and ease your throbbing heartache.
When you can’t depend on government or family members
to lend a helping hand.
Call on me to place my spirit
in the hearts of men and women
under my command.
I will never abandon you in the midst of crisis
or give you more than you can bear.
Where compassion exists and love abides
you will always find me near.
Cry your river of tears upon my shoulder,
rest your weary head on my angelic bed.
I will help you through your grief
and allow you to honor the dead.
You are the reflection of me, my temple of worship,
that’s why I empathize with your pain.
I will help you to build again
and replace your frown with a smile
like the sun after the rain.
I won’t hesitate to provide relief from stress
and ease your heartache.
Don’t worry about today’s tomorrow;
call on me when your levy breaks.
