Poem: Bolt and Washer

I went on the internet this weekend
to meet Bahamians on the HI-5 website,
maybe meet a dating prospect or two.
I was shocked to be propositioned
by the “nut nut”, the “screw screw”
and the “any hole will do”.
Now I am a “bolt and washer” just like most men and women
in our society.
I believe it’s a dangerous type of
sinning when one chooses to engage in
“same gender” bedtime activity.
The truth is, I may have a few closet friends who are XY
frolicking with other XYs.
But like my druggie and number friends I
don’t want to know the how,
where or whys.
If you are an XX who “juices” other XXs,
please don’t entertain my advances and stop wasting my time.
If you are an “any hole will do sister or brother”
to keep that information on the down low
from a straight significant other is a crime.
What disturbs me about being approached on-line
by the “screw screws”
was that I stated that I was straight on my site profile.
Yet I still got these “Broke Back Mountain” messages
that to the homophobic can only be described as vile.
It was an eye opening experience surfing the web,
it exposed me to the changing fabric of our people’s moral
and communal identity.
But if you are a “nut nut”, “screw screw”
or “any hole will do”,
please don’t involve me or any other “bolt and washer”
in your promiscuous activities.
