Poem: New Destination

A friend who is changing jobs requested a farewell poem to her co-workers today. I came up with this poem -

As I prepare to leave this secure shore
to sail waters of uncertainty and explore a new destination.
I want to thank everyone here at Company X
from the bottom of my heart
for their assistance and direction.
Some of you are more than colleagues and associates;
many of you I am honored to call friends.
And like the stars that exchange light to each other from afar
I hope our bond will never end.
Through the years I have learned professionalism,
patience, and persistence
in the pursuit of a dream.
I may be one person
but my successes are a culmination of efforts
supported by many of your names.
I have no regrets as I embark on this voyage
except that I won’t see some of your faces everyday.
Share insightful stories, solve client woes
and laugh at the whimsical remarks
that some co-workers say.
Please know that I am only a phone call away
even though I will be on a different journey.
May God continue to bless each of you, your families
and the future of this company.
