A poem for a friend's friend who passed away

You touched our hearts
(Dedicated to Mrs. Maxine Hamilton Higgs on behalf of Mrs. Tameron Cambridge)

You touched our hearts and constantly brightened up my day.
Maxine you were the cool breeze that kept the frustrating heat away.
Our daughter will be a queen among women after knowing you.
You exhibited integrity in every task that you set out to do.
I remember how you talked about your kids daily

and praised their success.
You were honest and down to earth.

Max you were simply the best!
You never had much but you were always willing to give.
It’s a character that I hope to exhibit to my fellow man

as long as I live.
When my fridge was empty you would have the smell of oxtail

greeting me at my door.
You bought it of your own pocket

and my family's belly loved you even more.
God truly blessed you with the gift of joy,

a gift I was honored to share.
I hope that when you look down from heaven

that you see my happy tears.
My husband Kevin, my daughter Tammy and I

will miss you dearly.
Your jubilant voice was a comfort to my co-workers

and our Bahamian extended family.
My daughter adores you, my friend Linda Eads and I will never forget

how you helped us when we were in need.
Maxine Hamilton Higgs, you were an angel,

a magnificent woman in substance and deeds.
You touched our hearts and constantly brightened up my day.
Not even death, my friend, can take the love we share away.

Love Mrs. Tameron Cambridge
