Poem: Anymore - Nassau, Bahamas
Gone is the happiness
that was apparent before.
Departed is the will to survive,
Somehow she lost the strength and the drive.
She took one pill at first to ease the pain;
Followed by another, and another,
until none remained.
She looks at the mirror
to try and comfort the woman who cries,
But she doesn’t recognise the stranger
who stands before her with the watery eyes.
There is no forgiveness for her transgression,
no hope for tomorrow.
All faith in God depleted
by constant disappointment
and sorrow.
Her vision grows hazy
as she collapses to the floor;
And in her hand rests a picture of a husband
who doesn’t love her anymore.
