In their penultimate Grand Slam appearance together, Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor won the men’s doubles title on Saturday. The Bahamian and Canadian beat the Czech pairing of Lukas Dlouhy and Pavel Vizner 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 to add the French Open to their 2002 Australian Open and 2004 US Open titles.

It was a case of third time lucky for Knowles and Nestor, who lost here in the 1998 and 2002 finals, both times to the Dutch pairing of Jacco Eltingh et Paul Haarhuis.

Poem: A river that flows to you - Nassau, Bahamas
A stream by the bayou
spouts from a geyser;
Bid by gravity’s attraction,
a hollow inlet the water seeks.
Where twin mountain tops
Bid by gravity’s attraction,
a hollow inlet the water seeks.
Where twin mountain tops
embrace the sky,
Swollen with mist at their peaks.
The stream melts into a river,
Swollen with mist at their peaks.
The stream melts into a river,
a river that flows to you.
Wanting only to caress your valley
before flooding its banks
Wanting only to caress your valley
before flooding its banks
with nature’s dew.
As the water gathers
As the water gathers
beneath your table,
a bucket plummets
a bucket plummets
to the depth of your well.
Withdrawing a bud
Withdrawing a bud
filled with nectar overflowing
previously plucked by the wind,
and left embedded within a leafy shell
The bud blooms
previously plucked by the wind,
and left embedded within a leafy shell
The bud blooms
within a vase filled with water
bottled from a stream
bottled from a stream
by the bayou.
A stream that melts
A stream that melts
into a river,
a river that flows to you.
